I am a student. Can I join Unemployment Fund Aaria?

You can join as a member if you are employed and receive a salary or wages. If you are in paid employment in addition to studying, your studies not prevent you from joining as our member. ‘Employed’ in this context means having a permanent or a fixed-term employment contract for full-time or part-time work. Please note that you cannot join an unemployment fund while you are on unpaid leave, such as on child care leave, on study leave, laid off or on unpaid sick leave.

Can I join Unemployment Fund Aaria if I own a business or am a partner in my spouse’s business?

Running a business part-time is not an obstacle to joining or belonging to a wage-earners’ unemployment fund. You can be classed as a part-time entrepreneur if, for example, you work full-time and run a business on the side. Family members of entrepreneurs can also join Unemployment Fund Aaria as long as they have no ownership in the business themselves. Full-time entrepreneurs cannot join Unemployment Fund Aaria. If you run a business full-time, you can protect yourself against unemployment by joining the Entrepreneur Fund.
