Alternation allowance

The alternation allowance is a benefit that you can receive during alternation leave. Alternation allowances are paid by unemployment funds and the Social Insurance Institution (SII).

Alternation leave is an arrangement based on an alternation leave agreement between an employee and their employer. The employer hires an unemployed job-seeker who has signed up with the TE Office to cover for the employee while they are on alternation leave.

Members of Unemployment Fund Aaria can apply for an alternation allowance for the duration of their alternation leave through us. Please familiarise yourself with the eligibility criteria and instructions for applicants before you apply.
